Picnic in Oslo
Ok, this one should be fun.
I will admit that I spent a lot of time messing around with this plating.
For one thing, the hard boiled egg slices, which seemed ideally positioned to be great plating elements, all had a small crack, which prevented them from being a 'showcase element'. I couldn't balance one on its side or against a raised surface without the white bending in twain, like rebar sticking out of a newly-demolished building.
In fact, my initial attempts to create little smorresbrod-like canapés were really unimpressive. I partly put that down to lacking a tiny sprig of dill, which is often turned to by canapé makers for a little flavour and visual bump.
Having once again failed to bring a small kitchen knife with me, I was left with the elements as they were in the box. Ultimately, I found myself being drawn into a sort of discount West-Coast Arcimboldo aesthetic.
EETSA ME! MR. PICNIC FACE!
Ladies and Gents, it's all downhill from here.
